DeUmbra is developing intelligence by training agents in simulated environments.
Our physical world is increasingly being represented in simulation, but our long-term vision entails transitioning this intelligence to our everyday world. Simulations are becoming increasingly lifelike, consider the progression from Atari 2600’s Combat to Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto.
Agents trained to autonomously navigate and understand these increasingly real environments will gain a progressively more sophisticated understanding of the real-life environment in which we humans live.
At DeUmbra, we believe that such a grounded, common-sense understanding of our world is a prerequisite for real artificial intelligence. As simulations begin to mirror everyday life, agents raised in these simulations should be able to display artificial general intelligence when they are transferred to robots or are engaged with us in conversation.
